5 Easy Ways to Give Back to the World this Thanksgiving
This is the season of giving!
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, this is the perfect time to reflect on what we’re thankful for, and how we can give back to the world.
We are thankful for so many awesome things in our lives.
Premium, safe, high-quality cannabis products.
Breaking cannabis stigmas and stereotypes every day.
And of course, last but not least, we are thankful to see YOUR beautiful shiny face every time you step into our dispensary.
So without further ado, here are some easy ways you can give back to the world in this season of giving.
1. Purchase a Cannabis Cares pre-roll.
What if I told you that you could get high AND give back to the world at the same time? My friends, the future is now.
If you’ve stepped into a Kolas or a Powered by Kolas dispensary (like us) in the past few months, you’ve probably noticed that we have some interesting new products on the shelves.
Among those are the Cannabis Cares pre-rolls. With any purchase of a Cannabis Cares product, a portion of the proceeds go directly to the Downtown Streets Team, which will directly impact homelessness in Sacramento. The proceeds from this campaign will be used to help people who are homeless and at risk of becoming homeless to find long-term employment and stable, permanent housing.
2. Leave a donation in a Cannabis Cares donation box.
Maybe you prefer vaping or edibles to flower, and you’re not too keen on purchasing a pre-roll. That’s cool. You were probably nervously wondering, but we’ll set the record straight and tell you that you don’t have to smoke flower to give back to the world. Next time you’re picking up your favorite cannabis topical, or maybe a cannabis-infused snack, drop some extra change into our Cannabis Cares donation box.
This campaign to help the homeless, also spearheaded by the Sacramento Cannabis Industry Association, will go directly to the mayor’s homeless initiative, which will combat homelessness from a higher level. Even if you don’t have much to give, every cent helps.
3. Volunteer with the Downtown Streets Team.
Don’t smoke cannabis, vape it, or ingest it in any way? That’s cool too. We think you should try it and see if you like it (seriously, it’s all safe and lab-tested now, so you don’t have anything to worry about), but that’s neither here or there.
Our tip for you about how to give back to the world is to volunteer with the Downtown Streets Team!
This organization is doing the most when it comes to fighting homelessness. They don’t just provide valuable resources for finding employment and stable housing. They provide resources for rebuilding entire lives. For restoring dignity and empowerment. They provide opportunities for professional and psychological growth. A platform for those unheard to raise their voices.
Volunteering with or donating to this organization is an awesome way to give back to the world.
4. Plant a tree.
In a time of environmental turmoil, there’s no harm in planting a tree. Pollution is at an all-time high, climate change is getting worse, and the sea turtles, you guys!! We gotta save them!!
So we say, plant a tree. Or a succulent. Or a flower. Or some cannabis.
Planting a tree can help filter the air pollution, they can help soak up stormwater before it can create a flood, and they reduce global warming and creates habitats for thousands of different species. There are tons of reasons why growing a plant is good for the environment, but planting the right plants can also be good for YOU!
Grow some veggies in a garden so you have fresh, organic produce. Grow some cannabis so you can ensure the organic-ness of your own crop. Plant a succulent and enjoy the stress leaving your body as you admire how pretty it is.
Plant a tree. It’s a tried and true method of what it means to really give back to the world.
5. Do a random act of kindness.
The most fun option of all: do a random act of kindness.
Pick up litter on the street.
Let someone go ahead of you in line.
Give your neighbor a pre-roll.
Give a stranger a compliment.
Whatever you do, do it with kindness.
